[ENTRANCEWAY] IC CONTACT

You've reached Peridot, leader of the Crystal Gems. I can't get to your call right now, but you can leave a message, and if I'm not too busy being a great savior and all-around wonderful gem, I'll get back to you.
[pause]
...Is that all I do? When does it- [BEEP]

I know a guy with a plan, if you're interested.

[a beat]
I'm interested. Who is this "guy?"
no subject
His username is "kazbrekker," no spaces. Two k's.
Basically, we're gonna try to dress up like bandits and be real loud so the Qorral will think the bandits are the ones trashing the minds, not Audentes. [ What a great plan, right?? ] Once the damage is done, we drop the disguises, swoop back in like "oh no, how horrible, your poor mines" and clean up whatever's left. Sound good to you?
no subject
That's ingenious. It removes all the flaws from my original plan! And I can come in after and tell them everything I've learned- they'll be so distraught, they'll have to listen to what I have to say.
[she giggles maniacally. such a good... hero.]

And because Lapis told me.

Wonderland gave it to me. Clearly you didn't take care of it well enough.

Mirror Writing, backdated to before the traumasaur event :)
Well, anyway. She said she'd write, and it's not hard at all to find Peridot out and about at the exact moment she pleases, so when she does she does.]
Hi, Peridot.
It was okay, but you weren't missing much.
no subject
This is Lapis, right?
It's hard to tell when I can't see you.
no subject
I guess that's a good point. You're right, though.
I'm glad you remembered me.

Mirror writing, also pretend this is vaguely backdated some big chunk, I'm a slacker
But when it came down to it, she couldn't think of anything she wanted to say. This Lapis may not be ruled by fear like certain parties, but she has a certain brand of conflict aversion nonetheless. What was there to say that would do anyone any good? Why stand around and struggle with it, then?
All of that is over with now, though! Things are... well. Things are good in strange and entirely unexpected new ways, such that she doesn't really know how to approach that either, but at least it's a positive. Things are changing, and it's a perfect time, M'Lapis thinks, to revisit some other positive changes. And it's still never hard to find Peridot passing through; despite all that, she is easy to not overlook.]
Well, well! Look who's come to see me!
SALUTES
...Anyway.]
I should have said something sooner, but... you know.
[Wars. New regime changes. Etc.]

[Thank heavens that good ol' Peridot makes slipping back into it so easy. Bless her.]

Mirrors, as always I get to this late and gently backdate it before the event
So she doesn't go out looking, but before altogether too long there comes a day when she sees Peridot in the halls and decides she's in the mood to get her attention again. A simple and trivial decision, no fanfare needed.]
Why, look who it is!
Did you come all this way just to talk to me again, how sweet.
[...It's a random-ass hallway, that makes no sense.]
no subject
Does this mean you're not upset anymore?
no subject
Other than the ego problem, of course, but that's normal.

Mirror that for once I don't even have to backdate
Well, hello to you too, Peri! I'm so glad you could make it.
i am a monster of unspeakable evil who doesn't get notifs
I've been curious about how things are going over there... What with everyone being liberated from Queens and that whole Jabberwocky thing
we'll get there and that's what matters
Is that really all you're worried about?
[M'Lapis is just about willing to humor that a bit, because she's willing to humor most things on general principle, but even the standard pleasures of complaining about her crappy life and trying to win sympathy don't hold their usual luster right now. So many things have changed. She'd never admit it, but she's itching to get going.]

An Advent Calendar, Day One
Anyway, we could almost say that she's first to spot the gift manifested in the barn-room, except technically that honor goes to Claude. He's already sniffing along the corner of one little wooden chest with great interest. Lapis is less inclined to use her nose but joins him in the form of quietly staring for a moment. Even now, she doesn't ultimately trust anything Wonderland does, but she's also gotten enough of a read on it by this point that she doesn't have to feel immediately threatened by a box showing up. (Plenty of time for that bridge when it comes to them.) The roomie/bestie/girlfriend will still presumably want to see this, depending on her status, but at least it's casual.]
Hey, Peri?
no subject
The second her name is called, however, she moves and undoes the whole thing. With a sudden yelp, the hammock unwinds and drops her unceremoniously onto the ground. It's fine. It happens to her all the time.
She blinks at the boxes- one for each of them, and gasps.]
Oh my stars. Did I sleep all the way to Christmas??
no subject
[Although falling out of the hammock is entirely normal, Lapis does take the moment to watch Peri get up -- she'd go over if it wouldn't be redundant by the time she got there. There's no worry or even that self-conscious attentiveness she'd been practicing, but Peridot is just inherently better to pay attention to these days. And it would be unsporting to start in on today's mystery without her.]
